It was one of those days... okay, it has been one of those weeks. Busy, busy, busy. Not a moment to breathe. Every client wants it...and wants it now! I am working hard to keep up. But Little Boss is not helping things.
I have had to deal with several quips all week from him. I have not bitten. At least not to him. I spent most the week running into a co-workers office for a brief bitch session. I whispered bitch session. Because Little Boss has fabulous hearing. No, I mean it. It is scary and I am beginning to wonder if he has the place bugged. I have stopped bitching about him on IM at work because I am pretty sure he is spying on my computer. I understand that he is legally allowed to do so but... STOP IT! Co-worker is having her own problems with Little Boss. By this afternoon I walked into her office, she looked up at me, and that was all it took. No words necessary.
LB: I am swamped. Why is client coming in today?
Me: ( ...crickets... don't say the wrong thing...)
LB: I mean, what is her rush?
Me: Well, you told her we would have it to her by the end of the week. I made it a priority at your request. It is now Thursday. When I scheduled the appointment she said she couldn't do Friday.
LB: Does she have a job?
Me: Part time.
LB: So she can do Friday. (Not a question)
Me: Well she said she couldn't.
LB: Well I can't do today....
Me: (I look at the calendar. His schedule is tight. But it wasn't when I scheduled it.)
LB: I don't understand her rush.
Me: (me either but he is the one who promised her) What exactly do you want? (is he just bitching or...)
LB: Call her and change it to Friday. But don't make it late in the afternoon. By the way, what have you been working on (in that tone that can only say "Have you been doing anything?")
Me: Cases. (... waving my arms at my desk. It is so piled high with paperwork that it is beginning to get difficult to find a small place to write).
LB: (Just keeps looking at me like he wants more of an explanation)
Me: (Don't say anything. Clinch your teeth. DON'T DO IT!)
LB: (walks out of office)
He signs my paycheck...he signs my paycheck...he signs my paycheck... I really need to be doing a better job a job hunting!
