With this ring...

My weight loss continues to steadily drop. It is wonderful to go from the dreaded feeling before I step on the scale to elation when the numbers settle every morning. And it is beginning to show.

One day last week I was getting ready for work and Ladybug was following me around like a magnet. I was trying to answer her while remembering everything that needed to get done as I got ready for work. I use to be good at multi-tasking. Now I need lists.

I wear 4 rings every day - pinky and ring finger of each hand. On the left hand I where 2 tanzanite rings. On my right hand I wear a garnet ring and a sapphire ring. When I was a smaller person I wore the tanzanite rings on my right hand and I wore the other 2 rings on my left hand (middle finger and ring finger). My left hand is fatter because I am right handed. As I have gained weight I have had to adjust my accessories. I could have just stopped wearing them but ... well... I didn't want to. I love tanzanite and the other 2 rings I inherited when my grandmother died.

So I was getting ready last week, grabbed my rings and put them on. It was when I got into the car that I looked down at my hands and realized that I had put my rings on the wrong hands. YIPPEEEE!!!! I have lost enough weight so that my rings are fitting better. Okay, I wish that I would lose weight in my thighs first but I guess I can be happy with skinny fingers.

When I got home from work I took off my rings. Or more accurately...I tried to take off my rings. Three of them came off. The one on my right hand, ring finger would not budge. There was no way it was going to slip over that first knuckle. So I took it as a sign. A motivator. The only way that ring was coming off was if I lost more weight. Hey we all need a reason some days.

By day 2 of wearing that ring it was starting to get a little uncomfortable. It was leaving a ring around my finger. And the finger seemed a little more red then the others. Or was I imagining. But it went on so it had to come off. Right?

On the morning of day 3 I woke up and discovered that the finger was tingling. My skinny fingers must be gaining weight. I held my hand up in the air -- so glad that I am single as I laid in bed with my hand stuck straight up in the air. Did I really assume that gravity would make all the blood rush from my finger? Well, I hoped. It didn't.

I crawled out of bed -- something I hate doing on a Saturday morning at 6am. I ran my hand under cold water. I tugged. I pulled. My finger turned bright red. I got an ice cube and rubbed my finger with it. Does cold make things expand or contract? I can't remember. But don't you ice a sprain? Is that for the pain or the swelling? I tugged. I pulled. Still nothing.

I went into Ladybug's room. Yep, she was awake. I have to drag her butt out of bed on week days but she is up and happily playing with her barbies on a Saturday at 6am. Should I ask how long she has been up? Nah. She has no concept of time yet. I grab her lotion. She has this wonderful, fabulous, and fantastic lotion. It smells yummy. Yes, YUMMY! Some days I have to remind myself that it is not food and probably tastes terrible. But it smells good enough to eat.

I slather the lotion on my finger. I tugged. I pull. And it slowly inches over my knuckle. Don't stop pulling!! It popped off. Oh thank you! Now my images of my finger turning black and falling off before I can lose enough weigh can stop.

The good news is that I continue to lose weight. As of this morning I am officially down 19.8 pounds. Obviously that is not enough for my rings...and I have so much more to get rid of... but that is fantastic! Started diet April 22nd. Took a 4 day interruption. May 24th down 19.8 pounds. I can't wait until I get rid of another 20 pounds.
