Going green

When I started dieting last spring I knew that had to start drinking more water. Not only did I need to stop drinking other things but I needed to just drink more water in general. So I made the commitment and I bought 2 Camelbak bottles. These are great bottles. I suck on them all day and I get far more water in without really working at it. And I don't go through bottles of water.

When I bought them I promised myself they were for water only. And I have stuck to that. I only put water in them.

The other day I decided that it was time to clean the bottle. No, this was not the first time. But as I cleaned it I realized that it didn't look really like new. And it is not new. But I continued my inspection. It wasn't new. But I think that is scum on the bottom of the bottle. Oh. It was! I cleaned. I scrubbed. That is just gross.

Tonight I filled the bottle up with water again. And I sat with it in front of me. For quite a long time. I just could not bring myself to drink out of it again. I tried. I couldn't. I decided that maybe I needed to clean it out with bleach. I even found the bleach. But I didn't use it. I just took it all apart and and scrubbed again.

But this time I also decided that I needed to clean out the straw. How do you clean out a straw. I run water through it. I squirt soap into it. And it runs clean. So it is clean. Right?

Well, then I got a bright idea. I needed to clean it. I decided to stick q-tips down the straw to see what comes out on it. I mean, it is clean. I just cleaned it. So imagine my surprise when I saw the nice little q-tip come out the other end of the clean straw bright green. No joke! Like a stop light green. Like astro-turf green. Like algae green.

Any wonder why I have been sick???
