On the way to drop Ladybug off at camp:
Ladybug: Mom, if there were no trees would we die?
Mama: Ummmm. Well, maybe not. But it would change things.
Ladybug: How?
Mama: Well trees give us air to breathe.
Ladybug: And shade.
Mama: True.
Ladybug: Would all the plants die?
Mama: Maybe.
Ladybug: Like in a desert.
Mama: Maybe.
Ladybug: But want if it doesn't rain?
Mama: Well, then it causes what is called a drought.
Ladybug: Would people just move away if there was no rain?
Mama: Well, people can't always just move.
Ladybug: So do they die?
Mama: Maybe. Depends how bad the drought is.
Ladybug: Is there a drought now?
Mama: Well there is one in parts of Ethiopia right now.
Ladybug: Is that why my first mom died?
Mama: No. She died because she got sick.
Ladybug: What made her sick?
Mama: Something got in her blood and made her sick.
Ladybug: What?
Mama: It is called a virus.
Ladybug: I have been sick before.
Mama: Yes, but not with this virus.
Ladybug: Ok.
And then we arrived at camp. How is my child?
Mean Mama
