will I survive

My child is driving me insane. I love her. Really. But sometimes I wonder if I will survive.

I had a busy day planned for Saturday. I knew it would be hard. But it had to be done.

We (Ladybug and I) started the day by stopping at Starbucks to get the last Iced Chai Latte before the starvation diet was started. Ladybug got one too.
We then went to Target. School shopping time. We got everything on the teacher's list. We got cute lunch bags and thermoses. We got a fabulous pair of brown cowgirl boots (I thought she would want the pink but she picked the brown).
We stopped at McDonald's for lunch.
We went to a birthday party (mermaid and pirate themed). She got an extra long nap in the car on the way because apparently mapquest believes that every twist and turn is not necessary.
She threw up in the car -- see previous post.
We went to the mall. We looked for black dress shoes. Found nothing in her size. NOTHING! Apparently 12 is a popular size. But found a wonderful, cheap pair of flip flops that light up when you walk.
I let her get her ears pierced. I didn't plan on it. But she watched another girl get it done and she wanted it. She didn't even flinch (I practically passed out).
We stopped for pizza because it was late and I had no intentions of cooking after that day.

And as we sat there eating, she started to get mean. She wouldn't look at me. She wouldn't answer me. If she did it was with that dismissive tone I love so much. So I asked what was up.

Ladybug: Mama, I can only follow what my heart says and my heart says that I don't need to be nice to you.

Me: Let me explain "return policies" to you. And don't forget I can take those earrings out.

Mean Mama
